CULLMAN, Ala. – After surviving the recent ice storm, many residents may be dreaming of warmer temperatures and sunny days spent in the garden. Give your landscape a boost and support local educational programs by attending the Cullman County Natural Resources Planning Committee’s native tree (and plant and shrub) sale, slated for Saturday, Feb. 24, beginning at 9 a.m. at the North Alabama Agriplex.

The annual sale will run until noon, or until sold out, whichever comes first. All trees and shrubs are species indigenous to Cullman, and will be sold as bareroot seedlings. Seedlings will be priced at $3 each.

Alabama Forestry Commission Forester Mary Claire Smith said all proceeds stay in the community, benefiting and bolstering natural resources education here in Cullman County.

“All proceeds help support our FAWN program, where sixth graders come and learn all about Alabama’s natural resources,” she explained, noting while the sale is scheduled until noon, buyers may want to get there early to secure their seedlings.

The North Alabama Agriplex located at 1714 Tally Ho St. SW in Cullman.
