CLANTON, Ala. – Rain and thunderstorms ahead of a line of storms will move across the state from this morning through evening with several additional bands or lines of storms through Thursday. The highest threat will be heavy rainfall where widespread 2-4 inches are possible into this evening, with some spots possibly as high as 6 inches.

Widespread severe weather is not expected either today or Thursday. Although heavier rainfall with thunderstorms will occur Friday, the severe threat will diminish with no severe storms forecast at this time.

A stronger upper level disturbance will bring a higher severe threat to much of the state from Saturday morning through the afternoon. Damaging wind gusts, tornadoes and very heavy rain will all be possible.

Total widespread rainfall totals from today through Saturday afternoon will be 3-6 inches, with some spots well exceeding 6 inches where stronger thunderstorms occur.

Dry conditions will finally arrive by Saturday evening and continue through most of next week.
