Brushy Pond Founders Day Celebration Saturday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

BREMEN – The Brushy Pond Founders Day Celebration will take place at the Brushy Pond Community Center, 2729 County Road 143, Bremen, AL 35033, tomorrow, Saturday, May 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is hosted by the Brushy Pond Seniors.

Details from the event are below:

Pancake Breakfast will take place from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $6 per person, and kids 5 and younger eat free. Guest chefs will be political candidates Melvin Hasting, Garry Marchman and Garlan Gudger.

There will be a hot dog lunch, as well as arts and crafts vendors, yard sales and political candidates. Free games will include corn hole, horseshoes, Mexican train and a Checker Grudge Match with Dillon Calvert.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Timothy A. Turney from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
(gospel, contemporary Christian and country) and Travis Hill Jr. (gospel and bluegrass)

There will also be a pie eating contest and a primitive wagon and Brushy Pond’s first tractor display, along with fire trucks from Bremen.

Exhibits will include an Echota Tribe of North Alabama artifacts and cultural exhibit from noon to 2 p.m., highlights of the life of James Constantine Harris (first postmaster of Brushy Pond) presented by Harris Family Historian Margaret Harris Morton and a textiles exhibit (friendship quilt) repurposed guano fertilizer bag-bed coverlet.

Political candidates attending will be: Rep. Corey Harbison, State Senate candidate Garlan Gudger, probate judge candidate Carol Berry, commissioner candidate Andy Coffey, County Commissioner Garry Marchman and circuit judge candidate Melvin Hasting.
