HAYDEN – The Warriors weren’t quite able to get their offense moving on the road Friday night as they dropped their final region game of the season to Hayden 20-7.

On a cold, wet night in Hayden, West Point’s offense had trouble getting started and wasn’t able to find the end zone until midway through the third quarter. The Wildcats took the opening drive down the field for a score to take an early 6-0 lead. Midway through the opening quarter, Hayden added to its lead with a 55-yard touchdown run to make it 12-0.

The Warrior defense held after giving up the two early touchdowns and held the score at 12-0 heading into the halftime break.

West Point quarterback Rylan Jones found his wideout Whit Laney 22-yards down field for a touchdown midway through the third quarter to cut the lead to 12-7, but it was the only time the Warriors were able to get on the scoreboard.

An interception late in the third quarter, a turnover on downs early in the fourth quarter and a fumble on the goal line in the final two minutes kept West Point from chipping away at the Wildcats’ lead, and the Warriors finished up region play with a 20-7 loss on the road.

The Warriors have now lost seven straight but can end the season on a high-note next week when they host (1-8) Cordova.
