LEIGHTON - Ethan Smith ran for 382 yards on 33 carries and two touchdowns to lead Colbert County to a 35-8 win over Addison.

Colbert County has an edge in the 2A, Region 7 championship chase after staying undefeated against the no. 2 team in the region, Addison.

Smith broke free for runs of 81 and 85 yards during his massive game for the Indians. Smith said the offensive line deserves all the credit, and he made sure to name every single offensive lineman.

Colbert County scored first on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Lucas Craft to Jay Olivis on a fourth-and-6. The extra point was missed.

The Indians owned the majority of the second quarter. Jyrease Horton punched in a 7-yard touchdown run after Smith broke an 81-yard run to the Addison 7. Horton carried in the 2-point conversion.

With 4:20 left in the half, Colbert County stopped Addison on fourth down at the Indians’ 15-yard line. One play later Smith busted an 85-yard touchdown run to give Colbert County a commanding 21-0 lead.

Addison scored after a nine-play, 59-yard drive with 33 seconds left. Weston Smith scored on a 3-yard touchdown and also scored the 2-point conversion for the Bulldogs.

Ethan Smith had 234 yards rushing at halftime for the Indians on 15 carries and a touchdown. Colbert County led 21-8 at halftime.

Addison received the second half kickoff and drove to the Indians’ 44-yard line before the stingy Colbert County defense stopped them on fourth down.

After 11 plays, Ethan Smith scored on a 10-yard run to extend the lead to 28-8.

Colbert County added a late touchdown in the fourth quarter. Craft hit Themetri Carter for a 16-yard touchdown to seal the 35-8 win for the Indians.

Addison (5-2, 2-1) will be back home next week to take on the Tanner Rattlers.
