BREMEN -The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce gathered at Kat Daddy’s BBQ and Grill Co., located in Bremen, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially welcome the business and its owners into the chamber on Friday. The restaurant is one of two owned by Patrick J. Watson (The Smith Lake BBQ Guru) and has been in operation for four years.

The restaurant specializes in more than just barbeque and is well known for its catfish and steak. Alongside being one of the closest barbeque restaurants to Smith Lake, the business offers catering and has been described by Watson as Smith Lake’s own Lulu’s—a comparison not made lightly; Kat Daddy’s has become “the go to place,” for those on the lake, selling shirts, sauces and of course delicious food.

In celebration of becoming a member of the chamber and booming business from economic growth around the lake, Kat Daddy’s BBQ will now be open on Thursdays from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. as well as its normal operating hours of 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Fridays and 7 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Watson and his family also own the Crazy Rooster Café, but the restaurant suffered an electrical fire on July 10 of this year. The family is rebuilding and plans to incorporate an event field on the property located behind the current location of the restaurant to become one of the only restaurant and event fields in the area.

Watson estimates that the restaurant will be restored and operational no later than May 1 of next year.

Spurred by economic advancement in the area, Watson has high hopes for the lake.

Said Watson as he was about to cut the ribbon, “There is no better time to come to and buy on the lake. America is coming to the Southeast, and the world is coming to Cullman.”
