Colony area veterans gather outside the Colony Educational Complex on Saturday, Nov. 11 to celebrate Veterans Day. / Town of Colony

COLONY - On Veterans Day 2017, the Town of Colony hosted 75 guests and community leaders to share a homemade breakfast to honor veterans.

The celebration was held at the Colony Educational Complex.  The parkway leading to the complex was decorated with small American flags.  An American flag made by members of the Link of Cullman County stood in the lobby of the complex.

In attendance were members of all branches of the military serving from the Vietnam conflict to the current conflict in Afghanistan.  The day was to honor veterans of all wars for their patriotism and willingness to serve in the military and sacrifice for our country.  Also eating the chow prepared by the wonderful cooks of Colony were the honorable circuit court judges Martha Williams and Greg Nicholas as well as Cullman County Commissioner Garry Marchman, former coroner Gary Murphree and Cullman County EMA Director Phyllis Little.

It was a wonderful fall day in the town of Colony.
