(UPDATED) 5 charged after search yields meth

Editor’s note: The original version of this story, published on Tuesday, Sept. 19, stated that all five suspects were charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. An amendment from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Sept. 20 clarified that only Lijah Blue Bryant was charged with that crime.

BREMEN - Five people were arrested in the community of Bremen on Monday, after agents with the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and officers with the Cullman Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in the area.

According to a media release from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, 16 grams of methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia, were found during the search.

The five individuals arrested were Lijah Blue Bryant, 40, of Bremen ($3,000 bond); Bradley Allen Hill, 38, of Arab ($2,000 bond); Timothy Justin Kitchens, 26, of Cullman ($1,000 bond), Elizabeth Ann Smith, 42, of Bremen ($1,000 bond); and Kristen Leigh Tarvin, 21, of Crane Hill ($1,000 bond).

Bryant was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Hill, Kitchens, Smith and Tarvin were charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

“I again would like to thank the community members who call(ed) and gave us tips about drug activity in their area because they are often our best eyes and ears to drug activity in the area. I am glad we were able to arrest these suspects before this meth was sold or even used by these suspects or others,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.  “I would also like to thank the CNET Agents and the Cullman Police Department for the diligence they displayed on this case.”

All suspects were booked into the Cullman County Detention Center.
