TRIMBLE - It was a perfect day for the third annual Cullman, Alabama High School Bass Fishing Classic at Smith Lake Park in Trimble. Cullman County and Cullman City Schools participated in the classic looking to win in three different categories: individual, team and the biggest bass caught. In the team category, Fairview reigned, taking three of the top four spots. Good Hope and West Point took home second and third place, respectively.

In the individual category, Good Hope took home first place as the team of Chase Taylor and Colton Williams took home a combined weight of 14.55 pounds between their five fish. Fairview took the runner-up spot as the team of Daniel and Cox finished with a combined weight 14.47 pounds; Fairview also took third place as the team of Garnett and Denney had a combined weight of 13.51. Cullman finished in fourth with a combined weight of 13.32 between the team of Glasscock and Graves, and Cold Springs took home fifth place with a combined weight of 13.17 between the team of Calvert and Abbott.

Cullman County Parks and Recreation awarded the individual winners from Good Hope, Williams and Taylor, free registration for the organization’s Bassfest tournament in October.

Biggest bass honors went to West Point, as the team of Bagwell and Vaughan caught a bass that was 4.22 pounds, and Cullman, behind Glasscock and Graves, caught a bass that was 3.89 pounds, good enough for the second spot, then it was the team of Calvert and Abbott who caught a bass that finished at 3.81, good enough for third for Cold Springs. Garnett and Denney helped the Aggies clinch the fourth spot with their biggest bass weighing in at 3.5. Good Hope's team of Graham and Blackmon finished in fifth with their biggest bass weighing in at 3.02.
