Cullman Fire Rescue firefighters and EMTs help train future medical professionals at CHS

Brian Bradberry

CULLMAN - Members of Cullman Fire Rescue, both firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) recently had the opportunity to help train Cullman High School Medical Professional Academy (CHSMA) students in the proper placement of IVs. The group was led by Lt. Gary Mikus.

“Special thanks to Brian Bradberry and his team for making these trainings possible! You have been such an amazing resource for hands-on instruction!” said Stacy Tankersley, RN, CHSMA instructor. “The students always look forward to trainings with Lt. Mikus and the others throughout the year.”

Said Division Chief Bradberry, “Being able to help out our schools is an honor. Lt. Mikus and the crew do a great job with this program. The students are always eager to participate and Ms. Tankersley always does a great job of coordinating the efforts. It is a great program for students interested in starting a career in the medical field and we are so proud to be a part of their training.”

Cullman Fire Rescue is also an active partner in the Cullman County job shadowing program that is offered during the month of January. This training allows students throughout Cullman County the opportunity to gain knowledge about the necessary certifications required to become a career firefighter/EMT, as well as the ability to experience the many different duties and responsibilities of a firefighter/EMT in a safe training environment.
