Local Democrats and Republicans hosting election night watch parties

CULLMAN - Both the local Democratic and Republican parties are hosting election night viewing parties on Tuesday evening, as one of the most polarizing and consequential presidential elections in recent history comes to a close.

The Cullman County Democrats, along with the North Central Alabama Young Democrats (NCAYD), will hold their party at the Cullman County Democratic headquarters, located at 415 Second Ave. SW in Cullman.

The event is free and open to the public. The party will start at 6 p.m., but the office will be open all day for volunteers and for those who would like to converse with local Democrats.

According to NCAYD Vice-President Roger Duke, “This is a community event to highlight the Democratic leadership and grassroots efforts in Alabama. (It will) showcase those in the north-central Alabama region.”

Food will be provided as election results are shown over a projector and additional TVs as well.

On behalf of the Cullman County Republicans, U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Alabama is hosting an election night party in Cullman at Top of the Town, located at 316 Second Ave. SW in Cullman.

The event is also free and open to everyone. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Election results will be shown on a big-screen television, and finger foods will be served.

"We are very excited to be hosting an election returns party with Congressman Aderholt," said Cullman County Republican member Waid Harbison. "We hope the entire community will attend to see the results of this critical election."

At both locations, the presidential race will be the big draw; however, the 14 amendments to the Alabama Constitution and state and local races will also be discussed and results broadcast.
