Run, Walk, Dance and Glow!

Cullman County Parks and Recreation
This is a great 5K, both for the local runner and for families looking to have a fun, healthy, happy time.”
Lauren Estes

CULLMAN – Sportsman Lake Park’s Rock & Glow 5K will take place on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 7-11 p.m. The event will not focus on speed, but on enjoying the night with family and friends. It is for people of all different abilities, ages, shapes and sizes who are ready to get up and GLOW! Bring your creativity and leave the dull at home. Look the part; if it’s brightly-colored, blinks, shines, glows or looks like something from another planet, it’s perfect!

The course at Sportsman Lake is 3.1 miles in length and will be filled with glowing fun. There will also be music blasting from multiple spots throughout the course to keep you motivated! After the 5K, everyone is invited to stick around for the party. Glow runners and walkers are encouraged to stay and dance the night away as a local DJ keeps the party going!

Admission to the park is free, but if you want to participate in the 5K you will need to register. The cost of participating in the 5K will be $30, but children 12 and under are $15 and children 6 and under are free. Although early registration is advised, you can register the day of the 5K, but a late fee will be charged. This also means that you might miss out on some extra goodies provided by the race sponsors. Registration will begin as early as 6 p.m. that night.

Don’t forget to bring cash with you to the event; there will be a concession trailer available at the park to purchase food after the race. Also, there will be a booth set up with items such as T-shirts, glow sticks and other glow items for sale.

“I'm signing up! You should too,” said Lauren Estes of Impact Nutrition. “We have registration forms here at Impact; let's get Cullman moving!

“This is a great 5K, both for the local runner and for families looking to have a fun, healthy, happy time,” she added. “I've ran it the last two years and my Rock and Glow T-shirt is one of my favorite race shirts. Come see me at Impact and sign up. Oh, did I mention ‎Impact is the main sponsor? Get ready to get hooked up with products and samples at this event, as well as, a special surprise we will share about soon!”
